Second Lunar Eclipse of 2003 Composite Image

2ndeclipsesm.jpg
Ok, so it took me an extra week to get this image completed. I really enjoy creating these composite images. All of these images were taken using a Nikon D100 camera body using an Orion Apex 90mm Maksutov-Cassagrain telescope as a lens on an equatorial mount and tripod. These photos were taken in increments of 10 to 30 minute intervals starting around 6:30 p.m. and ending just before 10 p.m. As you can see when the moon was near totality it turned a really neat looking red color. All of the other images I took using a faster shutter speed to show the bright detail of the moon so there is no red coloring in those images.

Moon Behind Clouds

Mooncloudssm.JPG

I took this photo Sunday night. As the clouds were moving in the moon took on an erie glow popping through the clouds. Cassie was not very happy when I woke her up to show off the pictures I had been taking. This was a 3 second exposure using a 20mm lens and no tripod.

Second Lunar Eclipse of 2003

Lunareclipsesm.jpg
I just wanted to post this picture real quick. This is of the second Lunar Eclipse of this year. I will be adding more photos later. This time you can see that the moon turned a beautiful red. Much better then the eclipse from earlier this year. Also I will be posting some pics of my new telescope. I bought a new larger Schmidt-Cassagrain telescope. Actually Cassie bought it for me as an early Christmas present.
