Second Lunar Eclipse of 2003 Composite Image

2ndeclipsesm.jpg
Ok, so it took me an extra week to get this image completed. I really enjoy creating these composite images. All of these images were taken using a Nikon D100 camera body using an Orion Apex 90mm Maksutov-Cassagrain telescope as a lens on an equatorial mount and tripod. These photos were taken in increments of 10 to 30 minute intervals starting around 6:30 p.m. and ending just before 10 p.m. As you can see when the moon was near totality it turned a really neat looking red color. All of the other images I took using a faster shutter speed to show the bright detail of the moon so there is no red coloring in those images.

While I was busy showing the eclipse to a crowd of hundreds outside San Diego's Reuben H. Fleet Science Center in Balboa Park, I was able to snap these few shots using my Canon G2
